Just read yer E-Biker rules. Amusing! All points to the simple fact that if you ride with respect for others and your own safety you are pretty much good to go.
Over ten years and well over 10,000kms of Toronto commutes I have surfed the sidewalks on a little 60lb electric kick scooter w/a top speed of only about 20kph. Gets me around at rush hour traffic speeds. Anyway, have been stopped by the police more than a dozen times and never received one ticket.
